All being well, we’re due to move in the very near future so I’ve been on the lookout for bedroom makeover ideas. When I asked for moving tips from friends on Feacebook, someone suggested to use the time before moving to have a really good clear out, and then start afresh in our new home.
So while we’ll be keeping some things from our current home, we will be getting some new furniture as it fits the space better and my first focus will be the primary bedroom.
Plans For Our Master Bedroom Makeover
When it comes to our master bedroom makeover, the most important thing for us was using the opportunity to get a new bed frame in a bigger size. To me, the bed will be the focal point of the room so we opted for a king size Hoxton Bed from Simba with an ottoman base, in midnight blue to match an accent chair we already own and are keeping.
Once we complete the move, we’ll order a king-size mattress for the bed along with new bedding (‘cos different size) and pillows to give our sleeping space a fresh look and a touch of our personal style. The bed is quite a dark color, so I plan to variations of white bedding with plenty of accents colours.
If you wanna know more about the process of choosing a bed from Simba and the delivery / build process, then have a read of my Ludlow Ottoman Bed Review.
Getting a good night’s sleep is something I take very seriously and having a good mattress, pillows and bed is the foundation of achieving that. If you’re looking for helpful tips then check my sleep content on the blog below.

Other Bedroom Furniture
The bedrooms in our new place don’t currently have any wardrobe space so that’s our first project to complete for the main bedroom. Of course I dream of a super organised walk-in closet in the small bedroom, but realistically it’s only a little space so more likely will be an office and / or little nook to hang out and read, write or rest.
We’ll be looking for an affordable way to instal built in wardrobes in the master bedroom – IKEA PAX seem to be the most customisable option on the market.
When it comes to the rest of the room, here’s what’s on the list to check out / buy:
- bedside table lamps
- wall art
- duvet cover (thinking coverless??)
- blinds / curtain panels
As well as the bed, we’ll be taking a large white chest of drawers for the bedroom space and some storage boxes which we’ll use until we sort the wardrobe.
Bedroom Makeover Design Inspiration
There is no better place to get inspiration than Pinterest. Of course our first choice would be to hire interior designers, but I’m assuming there won’t be a lot of money left after a big move, right?!
Pinterest is one of my favourite sites which can help you to find and define a color scheme or color palette, choose paint color for things like an accent wall and is a great way to shop for all the little things like decorative pillows, picture frames, throw blankets, pendant lights or a statement lamp.
I made the collage / main image for this post using some of the ideas I’ve saved for the bedroom makeover on Pinterest. It’s the perfect way to pull together your plans for your dream bedroom!
Got any ideas or stylish ways to do a bedroom makeover you wanna share?!

p.s the bed was gifted from Simba, however, the post and all opinions are completely my own.
