I personally now use wholegrain pasta or lentil pasta to help me hit my daily goal. As well as feeding your gut microbiota, there is also evidence that fibre is associated with a lower risk of conditions such as heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and bowel cancer.

Reduce Stress Levels 

Stress has the magic power to both slow down digestion, causing bloating, pain and constipation, or speed it up for other people, causing diarrhoea and frequent trips to the loo. Neither are a win. An upset stomach has even more of a negative impact on stress, which can get you caught in a loop. 

Some things I do to manage stress include short meditations, breathwork, placing boundaries between work / not working, going to therapy and working on my mindset. 

Regular Exercise 

Now, being a Fitness Professional and Personal Trainer, of course I advocate for movement. It doesn’t have to be the kinda workout where you crawl out though because remember, exercise is actually a stress on the body too and can have negative effects if you overdo it. 

Try things like strength training, walking, yoga or pilates which will all contribute (along with everything above) to your overall optimal health.
